| Oma Birth Education Center was founded in August 2008 as a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation with the intent to provide unique, evidence-based, perinatal education classes, emphasising the benefits of normal birth and breastfeeding, to women and their families in the Tillamook County and surrounding area. OBEC was established on the following beliefs: Nurturing and educating women and their families before, during and after pregnancy will enable them to have a gentle and empowering birth which will result in a happier and healthier family unit. A mother has a fundamental right to birth in the manner and place of her choice whether that is at home, hospital or birth center. Women are empowered by knowledge thus allowing them to birth instinctively, creatively and beautifully. Lamaze Six Care Practices Midwives Model of Care In support of this philosophy we offer evidence-based classes designed to educate and inform parents of the many options available to them in the hopes that, through knowledge, we will change the face of birth, one baby at a time, for a better world. We feel strongly that all families, regardless of income, deserve high quality, fun and informative birth education. With that in mind we offer all of our services on a sliding scale fee dependant on income and family size. No family will be turned away due to inability to pay. In order to provide these services we are working on attaining grants, developing fund-raisers and locating volunteers and donors who share our passion for mothers, babies and normal birth. If you believe in creating a more peaceful world through conscious birth please help support Oma and our mission by making a donation today! |
