Young Adult Birth Preparation
Designed specifically for young parent(s) this 6 week series covers a review of the pregnant body, fetal
development, nutrition, stress factors and coping mechanisms, stages of labor, relaxation and comfort
techniques, labor stations, the value of a Doula or support person, the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and
baby, the postpartum period and newborn care. We will use a variety of mediums such as journaling, birth art
and films to explore the fascinating subject of pregnancy and the new addition to the family!

This class takes an in-depth look at current breastfeeding rates in Tillamook county, Oregon and the nation as
a whole. We will review and discuss the nature and benefits of breastfeeding, societal perceptions,
breastfeeding in different cultures, and common issues and solutions. Please bring your baby!
